  • Stephen Robert Johns

United States, 1950 Artist Biography Works Next Stephen Robert Johns United States, 1950 BIOGRAPHY Stephen Robert Johns is an American painter renowned for his geometric abstract compositions that explore the interplay of color, form, and pattern. Born in 1950, Johns studied at the Chouinard Art Institute before earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts in 1972. His work is deeply influenced by the Bauhaus movement, particularly the color theories of Johannes Itten and the geometric explorations of László Moholy-Nagy, as well as the balance between architecture and the natural world. Johns’ paintings are characterized by their minimalist aesthetic, featuring bold curves, planes, and angles rendered in vivid, primary colors. His compositions draw inspiration from the organic geometry of nature—leaves, flowers, and landscapes—blended with the structural precision of architectural forms. This fusion creates dynamic works that evoke a sense of harmony between structure and fluidity, inviting viewers to engage with the contrasts between natural and constructed environments. Throughout his career, Johns has exhibited his work internationally. Highlights include a solo exhibition at the Kitakyushu Municipal Museum of Art in Japan (2015) and a retrospective at the Afragola High-Speed Train Station in Naples, Italy (2022), where his paintings dialogued with the organic architecture of Zaha Hadid. These exhibitions underscored Johns’ ability to merge geometric abstraction with site-specific resonance. In addition to his painting practice, Johns has participated in artist residencies, including the Julia and David White Artists’ Colony in Costa Rica, which enriched his exploration of geometry and color. His works have been collected by major public and private institutions worldwide, earning him recognition as a master of geometric abstraction. Currently, Johns splits his time between Los Angeles and Costa Rica, continuing to create works that reflect his ongoing exploration of the intersections between geometry, color, and the natural world. • Kimi Kim Wittling

South Korea, 1973 Artist Biography Works Next Kimi Kim Wittling South Korea, 1973 BIOGRAPHY Kimi Kim has been working in various genres including textile, woodcraft, print, lacquer, graphic design and ceramics since 1994. After graduating in Ceramics Design from Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design in London, she has been focusing more on ceramics. Her works feature delicate forms inspired by nature, such as trees, leaves, and petals made from fragile materials, such as ceramic and “paper clay”. These forms represent the nature of love and care in Kim’s personal life and how these relationships and beacons of joy are impossibly fragile, yet indescribably precious. People always live longing for what they can or can’t have dreaming of achieving something. In my first series, I wanted to talk about women’s desires and thirst through Chanel bags, but they expressed their desire to be jealous and disdain because they couldn’t have it in the closet, and they couldn’t have it in the form of a torn bag. The second desire series LEGO is looking back at my childhood when I see the LEGO blocks my kids play with, and we always have a desire to achieve something, but we are a little bit concentric and built up some form of LEGO blocks as I want. Why don’t we all become artists. • Kim Mine

South Korea, 1990 Artist Biography Works Next Kim Mine South Korea, 1990 BIOGRAPHY Kim Mine is a contemporary Korean artist best known for her ongoing character-based practice centered on NOBODY , a teddy-bear-like figure that embodies universal human experience. Stripped of fixed identity—such as age, gender, nationality, or social role—NOBODY functions as an anonymous yet deeply relatable presence, standing in for the ordinary individual navigating everyday life. Through painting, sculpture, and installation, Kim Miné explores moments that are often overlooked: small gestures, quiet emotions, and seemingly meaningless routines. Her work is guided by the idea of “the meaning of the meaningless,” revealing how personal narratives and collective emotions accumulate through ordinary experience. By presenting familiarity without specificity, her practice invites viewers to project their own memories and identities onto the figure, transforming anonymity into empathy. Kim Mine’s work resonates across cultures by addressing shared emotional states rather than individual stories. In her universe, NOBODY becomes everybody—an open vessel through which contemporary life, vulnerability, and connection are gently but persistently examined. --- Kim Mine Solo Exhibitions • NOBODY’s Present : MONSTER Gallery Gwanram, Seoul, South Korea, 2025 • The Present TDA Haus, Seoul, South Korea, 2024 • Meeting Global Luxury NOBODY Doosan Tower Luxury Gallery, Seoul, South Korea, 2023 • NOBODY and EVERYTHING Sesame Museum, Incheon, South Korea, 2023 ⸻ Group Exhibitions & Art Fairs • National Hangeul Museum Exhibition National Museum of World Writing Systems, Incheon, South Korea, 2025 (Group Exhibition) • Group Exhibition Saebyeokseisi Gallery, Incheon, South Korea, 2025 (3-person show) • Art Fair Daegu 2025 EXCO, Daegu, South Korea • Happy NEW Artist Exhibition YK Gallery, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, 2025 • Gotaek Art Festa 2024 Muju Hyanggyo, Jeollabuk-do, South Korea • URBANBREAK Art Fair 2024 COEX, Seoul, South Korea • 15th Design Art Fair 2024 Seoul Arts Center, Seoul, South Korea • OrangeHare OFFLINE Exhibition Space OrangeHare, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, 2024 • K-Artist Group Exhibition Gallery Chang, New York, USA, 2024 • Blossom Art Fair Shinsegae Gallery, Seoul, South Korea, 2023 • Affordable Art Fair Battersea Park, London, United Kingdom, 2023 • Gwangju International Art Fair (ART GWANGJU 23) Kim Dae-jung Convention Center, Gwangju, South Korea, 2023 • Blossom the Hope Art Fair 2023 COEX, Seoul, South Korea • MSUC Art Fest 2022 Gallery K, Seoul, South Korea • Blockchain Week in Busan 2022 BEXCO, Busan, South Korea • Plastic Art Seoul (PLAS) 2022 COEX, Seoul, South Korea ⸻ Art Collaborations • Korean National Police Agency × Kim Mine NOBODY “K-HERO” Art Goods Design Project • DEWL × Kim Mine “Dewlian” Character Design, Apparel, Emoticons & Pop-up Store • DEELO × Kim Mine Modular Furniture Project – Spatial Art Direction • POSCA × EPSON × Kim Mine Artist Interview & Live Drawing Collaboration • EPSON × Kim Mine Digital Print Collaboration & Artist Interview • RVN × Kim Mine Apparel Pattern Design Collaboration ⸻ Awards & Selections • Youth Focus Film Festival Selected Artist (Top 5) • Gangnam Green Canvas Project Final Selection (Top 10 Artists) • Art Token × Tent Film Festival Grand Prize (1st Place) • DDP NFT Collecting Vol. 1 Final Selection (Top 10 Artists) • Seoul-ro Media Canvas 2022 Final Selection (Top 10 Artists) ⸻ Lectures & Talks • “The Future of Digital Art and NOBODY” Digital Media Tech Show, KINTEX, Seoul, South Korea • “The Metaverse World and NOBODY” Korea Institute of Engineering & Technology, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea • “The Future of Digital Art and NOBODY” Korea Smart Tech Professionals Association Inauguration Ceremony, Seoul, South Korea WORKS Load More

United States, 1926-2018 Artist Biography Works Next Ed Moses United States, 1926-2018 BIOGRAPHY Ed Moses was a trailblazer in the Los Angeles art scene, earning global recognition for his dynamic, ever-evolving approach to painting. Throughout his prolific career spanning seven decades, Moses continually challenged artistic boundaries, describing himself as a “mutator” who thrived on curiosity and discovery. For him, painting was a dialogue between structure and freedom, where control met the desire to transcend limitations. Born on April 9, 1926, in Long Beach, California, Moses began his journey in a different field. After serving as a surgical technician in World War II, he initially pursued a career in medicine but found his passion for art through a serendipitous class at Long Beach City College. This pivotal moment led him to UCLA’s MFA program, where he connected with influential figures like Craig Kauffman and Walter Hopps, founder of the Ferus Gallery. In 1958, Moses debuted at Ferus Gallery, becoming a core member of the “Cool School,” a collective of groundbreaking artists including Robert Irwin, Ed Ruscha, and Ken Price. Together, they reshaped postwar art in Los Angeles, creating a foundation for the city’s thriving contemporary art scene. Moses' work was deeply rooted in experimentation and transformation. A committed Buddhist practitioner from 1978, he embraced impermanence and chance in his creative process, focusing on presence and intuition over rigid technique. He eschewed the label “artist,” instead calling himself a “mark maker” who sought to explore the endless possibilities of the painted surface. Over the years, Moses’ contributions to contemporary art were celebrated through numerous exhibitions and retrospectives. Highlights include his 1996 retrospective at MOCA Los Angeles and landmark shows at LACMA and UCLA’s Wight Gallery. His work transitioned from early drawings to bold, abstract paintings, with his later pieces showcasing his mastery of scale, color, and texture. Even in his 90s, Moses remained a vital force in the art world, working daily in his Venice studio and inspiring generations of artists. His legacy endures as a testament to his unwavering commitment to reinvention, exploration, and the power of art to transcend time and boundaries.
